The artwork "SENATE" engages with the timeless archetypes of power and leadership through the sculptural embodiment of figures who lived more than two thousand years ago. Through a meditative process of working with clay, I recreate portraits of ancient rulers – senators, warriors, sages, and philosophers, creating a collection that serves as a bridge between the past and the present.
The art object "SENATE" invites an examination of the similarities and differences between ancient Roman senators and contemporary political figures, emphasizing the transcendental nature of the roles and responsibilities shouldered by those who shape the fate of nations. The work questions how the temporal distance of two millennia will affect the perception of the modern political arena, and whether our decisions today will be judged as wise deeds or missteps by future generations.
